Area Details

  • California: Joshua Tree. Joshua Tree is the quintessential granite crack and face climbing area. Short multi-pitch routes will test your climbing ability in one of the countries most beautiful National Parks.
  • Colorado: Rocky Mountain National Park. Rocky Mountain National Park is home to some of the best alpine rock in the world. The steep faces, exposed ridges, and relatively easy access combine to make it a premier training ground for climbers of every skill level. Options include the Diamond, an alpine rock climber’s dream world of steep, solid granite; the Petit Gripon, one of the “50 Classic Climbs,” with a stellar 5.8 shooting up it’s middle; Hallet Peak, Spearhead, Sharkstooth and others.

For those looking for a day at the crag or a shorter multi-pitch route, Lumpy Ridge has a lifetime of routes to offer. Made up of several formations, or “lumps,” the ridge runs east/west and the rock is slightly different on every face. From crystalline cracks to thin faces to low angled slabs, the granite at Lumpy has numerous outstanding routes at every grade.
  • Colorado: Eldorado Canyon. A sharp contrast from RMNP but only an hour away, Eldorado Canyon’s rock buttresses rise straight from the river below to form perfect red sandstone walls and towers. The cracks and edges here are crisp and there are routes ranging from a perfect 6 pitch 5.5 to some of the hardest climbs in the world.
  • Colorado: Ouray. Options include the ice park and long multi-pitch routes in the surrounding San Juans.
  • Nevada: Red Rock. Red Rocks has phenomenal sandstone desert climbing at every grade. Home to endless multi-pitch traditional routes and a plethora of sport climbing, it is the perfect climbing getaway from October through April. Red Rocks lies just outside of Las Vegas and its proximity to the city makes it convenient and enables you to get in a hard day of climbing and then come back to a hotel, a great meal, and even a show.
  • New Hampshire and Vermont: Easy access, great ice, long gullies, perfect pillars. Options include well known favorties like Black Dyke, Pinnacle Gulley, Dracula and Repentance. From grade 2- 6, anything frozen you want to climb is in New Hampshire.
  • Wyoming, Tetons: The Grand Teton, rock climbing, mountaineering, elaborate peaks with a range of ascent options all situated close to Jackson Hole.
